Systems Administrator

This position is responsible for meeting the core information technology needs of the faculty, research and instructional staff and students at R.M. Bock Laboratories (www.bocklabs.wisc.edu), which houses two Graduate School Research Centers, the Laboratory of Molecular Biology and the Institute for Molecular Virology. 

The combined faculty research technologies are absolutely cutting edge and require the highest standards of technical support. A number of Bock faculty are involved in teaching or development of bioinformatics software and they utilize a variety of platforms (Mac, PC, Linux, Unix) and custom designed software-hardware within their research programs, including high-end microscopy, genetics computing, statistical analysis and instrument-based data collection.

This position will oversee, advise, manage and help maintain the specialized equipment, applications, servers and networks required in both research laboratory and administrative support settings. Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills, superior problem solving abilities, an ability to manage and prioritize constantly shifting priorities, the demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and a forward-thinking attitude are essential in all aspects of this position.
